Fingerprint systems analyse the locations of the endings and bifurcations of the friction ridges on the pad of your finger. Often, additional information, such as the number of ridges on the finger is also used. A number of methods exist to capture fingerprints: optical capture uses visible light, capacitive sensors use electrical current conducted through the finger, and ultrasound uses high frequency sound waves. Contact sensors capture an image of the ridge pattern in contact with the sensor, while contactless sensors effectively take an image (2D or 3D, depending on the system) of the ridge pattern while the finger is held a distance away from the sensor.

Iris recognition captures images of the eye using infrared light. Iris melanin is transparent under infrared illumination; this allows iris detail to be revealed regardless of eye colour. Iris recognition is considered to have a very low false match rate and is often selected to be used where population sizes are large. Liveness detection adds a layer of additional protection to identify a real person is present. Liveness detection methods may involve observing the location of reflections as illumination angles are changed, or movements of the pupil are measured. Iris recognition is a relatively secure biometric method of recognising people. This is in part due to the high level of discrimination across a population that can be achieved. Iris recognition can be fairly robust against presentation attacks for systems with an adequate liveness check, due to the difficulty in obtaining and presenting the necessary high-quality images.

Speaker recognition is based on the sound of the voice. Speaker recognition has two forms: • Text dependent - with the subject uttering a specific password or pass phrase. • Text independent - with the subject speaking in an unconstrained manner. Speakers are recognised based on the differences between their speech patterns and a “universal background model” of general speakers of the same language. Factors such as vocal tract, accent, rhythm, intonation, choice of vocabulary, are used to identify each unique voice.

Offers an accurate three- part fully integrated system (CCTV Cameras, Server and Software) to watch points of entry. The system detects unauthorised visitors by recognising faces that have previously been flagged, before alerting Security Officers of their presence. Officers are alerted either by a user-friendly app, SCR or ARC. The CMC has the capability to support this function. The RTC facial recognition system operate in low visibility environments and with near real time recognition. This solution does not replace the need for existing CCTV systems but is a proactive and complementary tool. As such, the RTC provides additional, high-quality and accurate information to existing on-site security solutions. The FRC is capable of processing partial face information by utilising visible information and other data from the obstructed features to identify an individual. For instance, individuals wearing sunglasses, hats, face masks, changes in facial hair etc.

Blood vessels on the human body form distinctive patterns that are unique to each person. Vein patterns are captured by illuminating body region with infrared light and photographing the reflected light. The blood vessels absorb infrared light more than the surrounding tissue so appears darker in the acquired image. Vein pattern recognition utilises parts of the body that can be easily presented to the sensor such as palms, fingers, wrists or the back of the hand. Although there is no explicit presentation attack detection, the difficulty in imaging vein patterns provides some protection against spoofing attacks. Likewise, vein biometric data is hard to duplicate so unsophisticated attackers are likely to present their own vein biometric data (typically palm or finger) to the sensor in the hope that they match with an enrolled biometric reference stored in the database. The chance of success is then determined by the false match rate of the system which is generally low enough for success to be highly unlikely. Due to the internal nature of the vein pattern, specialised hardware and the cooperation of the target is necessary to acquire a vein pattern image.

The Full Panel Gate is fast and efficient mechanism with sliding glass panels allows up to 60 passages per minute, ensuring high security with accurate prevention of fraudulent entry. Made of stainless steel and sliding tempered glass panels, the full panel gate is controllable via an interface connection to the AFC control system. On receiving a signal from the AFC control system, or remote control, the flap leaves open. If an unauthorised person tries to tailgate or attempts to enter from the opposite direction, the internal alarm system is activated. If within the pre-set timeout no passage has occurred, the flaps will close and reset. The system handles over 40 different passage scenarios, including intrusion, tailgating, and wrong-way direction, with high-performance fraud detection through sophisticated algorithms. The Full Panel gate also features wider walkways for wheelchair users, luggage or prams.

The turnstile features power-assisted movement with three rotor elements, each at 120 degrees. It includes sensors in the non-passage zone that detect and prevent unauthorized passage by reversing the direction of movement, forcing the unauthorized user to exit. There is an optional anti-piggybacking detection system, which stops and reverses the rotor if more than one person attempts to pass together. Thus, reducing the likelihood of tailgating. This turnstile is available in 1500mm and 1800mm diameters, with an option for extended passage height. In the event of an emergency or power-off scenario, the unit can be configured to be fail-safe, allowing the rotor to freely rotate, or fail-lock, locking the rotor in place.

VPS SmartDoor, our latest innovation, is a purpose-built high security keyless steel door with an industry leading Bluetooth SmartLock letting you control the access to your property from your mobile device or via a code. The Loxal smart locks are versatile, secure and wireless site/gate locks. It is managed via a cloud-based code management platform. They Integrate with Loxal access control to offer increased security on site. Can either be unlocked via an encrypted code or with a code and key solution. This is due to reduced detection or increased false alarms in fog, snow and other low-visibility conditions. • PIR uses filters to divide their deployment area into different detection areas and monitor any changes of temperature within that area. This is commonly deployed internally, as can suffer from poor detection rates when outside. • Microwave field is generated between a sending and receiving tower. This field is incredibly sensitive to movement, therefore when an intruder walks through, it causes a reduction in its strength, and an alarm is signalled. Microwave typically need a clear line of sight, ideally in a sterile zone.

An intruder steps on ground above the tube, changing the pressure inside and triggering an alarm. As this PID is deployed outside, antifreeze is used to combat any falls in temperature. • Ported Coaxial Cable PIDS leak radio waves from a pair of cables installed underground. An alarm is triggered when an intruder interferes with radio waves.
